Is to surrender,

To submit myself to you,

But I don't want to be broken beyond repair.

I don't want to be left in a ditch,

I'm not sure my heart can take it,

Being permanently and brutally bruised,

I can't take that risk.

Promises can easily fly off into the wind,

Secret words whispered can spread like wildfire,

I don't want to be caught in a burning house,

Sweet words could be hidden threats,

You haven't shown me your true self yet.

Betrayal is a common thing,

These days, its a common curtesy,

An iceberg crashing into me,

Destroying the boat that carries me along.

Romeo and Juliet didn't end well,

My future shouldn't depend on what you want,

I want my family, my home, my friends,

I won't stab my chest if you don't fight enough for our love.

I know that life doesn't flow like notes on a piano,

Don't contaminate me with lies,

I want peace, happiness, love, joy, strength,
